Frequently Asked Questions

What types of hearing assessments do you offer?

We provide baseline hearing tests, pre-employment hearing assessments for various professions, WorkCover hearing assessments for insurance claims, and workplace compliance testing. Our services cater to individuals, employers, and insurance purposes.

Who needs a pre-employment hearing assessment?

Pre-employment hearing assessments are required for professions where hearing ability is critical, such as aviation, police, defence, emergency services, mining, and transport. Employers often request these tests to ensure candidates meet industry and safety standards.

However, it’s not limited to the roles above. If you’re applying for a job that involves working in a noisy environment, your employer may require you to undergo a hearing assessment to establish a baseline and ensure you can safely perform the role.

What is a WorkCover hearing assessment?

A WorkCover hearing assessment is a specialised test used to evaluate hearing loss for insurance claims related to workplace injuries or conditions. The results help support your claim with accurate documentation.

Do I need a referral for a hearing test?

No referral is required — you can book directly with us.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Bring a photo ID and any relevant forms from your employer, recruitment agency, or insurer. For WorkCover claims, bring your claim number if you have one.

Will I get my results on the day?

Yes. We explain your results immediately after the test, and you’ll also receive a written report. We can also send a copy of the report directly to your employer, recruitment agency, or insurer.

How often should workplace hearing tests be done?

Frequency varies by industry and employer requirements. Typically, baseline tests are conducted when you start a job, with regular follow-up assessments to monitor hearing health over time. Your employer or occupational health team will advise on the schedule.

Is your service the same as the WorkSafe Hearing Conservation Program?

No, our hearing assessments are not the full WorkSafe Hearing Conservation Program. Employers may use our testing as part of their hearing conservation efforts, but the full program includes additional workplace noise management components that we do not provide.

Can you perform hearing tests at my workplace?

Yes, we offer convenient mobile testing services and can conduct hearing assessments on-site at your workplace or recruitment centre to minimise disruption. An on-site group testing will be organised by your employer.

How do I prepare for a hearing assessment?

Avoid exposure to loud noises for at least 12 hours before your test and refrain from wearing hearing devices during the test. Try to arrive well-rested and relaxed for the most accurate results.

Will my hearing test results be shared with my employer or insurer?

Results are provided directly to you and, if applicable, to your employer, recruitment officer, or insurance provider with your consent. We ensure confidentiality and clear reporting.

What happens if I don’t meet the hearing requirements for my job?

If your hearing assessment shows you don’t meet the necessary standards, we can discuss next steps, including recommendations for further evaluation, hearing protection, or referrals to specialists.

Do you offer flexible scheduling for shift workers?

We understand workplace schedules can be complex and offer flexible appointment times, including early mornings, after business hours, and on-site visits.

Note: Employers usually organise on-site visits – arrange this directly with them, and we will coordinate accordingly.

Will you liaise directly with our HR or WHS team?

Yes. We can coordinate directly with your designated contact to arrange bookings, deliver results, and answer any follow-up questions.

Can I bring someone with me to the appointment?

Yes. You are welcome to bring a support person, especially if they are helping you understand your hearing health or WorkCover claim process.
